I’ve been a Laker fan all my life. I remember going to Laker games at the Forum as a kid with my parents
I’M NOT NEW TO THIS
First and foremost, I’m not new to this; I’m true to this. I’ve been a Laker fan all my life. I remember going to Lakers games at the Forum as a kid with my parents and my Daddy stopping for Golden Bird on the way home. I remember watching Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy, Bryon, A.C., Vlade. I remember when Staples Center opened. I remember when we got Kobe. I remember when we got Shaq. I remember when Phil Jackson came to lead us back into glory after the drought in the 90s. And I remember the day we got LeBron and the day we got Anthony Davis. I remember the celebrations and the heartache.
We’ve played to more championships than any other team in the league and it’s not even close.
WE DA WEST AND WE DA BEST!
We are the best franchise in NBA history. Don’t @ me, I said what I said. We know how to build winning teams. We’ve played in more championships than any other team in the league and it’s not even close. Yet most longtime Lakers fans know that the Celtics have been a thorn in our side for decades. Not because they’re a worthy rival, but because for decades, even though we’ve been dominating since the 80s, they have enjoyed the status of technically having the most championships of any NBA franchise ever. Regardless of how stale and outdated those Celtics titles are.
We take the title to tie the Celtics for 17 in 2020. In 2021 we win our 18th title to put us atop the NBA all-time, exactly where we belong.
WE’RE NOT PLAYING THE SAME GAME
So when most mere mortals cheer for their hometown team in hopes that they can experience the joy of victory just once, Laker fans have their eyes on a much bigger prize. We want the most championships of any NBA franchise EVER period! When LeBron came here in the summer of 2018, I said to anyone who would listen, “This is it! We need one year to rebuild. We’ll take the title to tie the Celtics for 17 in 2020. And then in 2021, we’ll win our 18th title to put us atop the NBA all-time, exactly where we belong.” The vision was clear: make our dominance undeniable. Celtics who? Bottom line is, like King James, we want our damn respect. And now, we’ll have it. With a woman at the helm no less; the only female team owner to ever win an NBA title. Shout out to Jeanie Buss.
There are a lot of Laker haters in this country and I think it’s sad and unpatriotic.
A QUICK NOTE ABOUT THE DETERIORATION OF CIVILITY
There are a lot of Laker haters in this country and I think it’s sad and unpatriotic. The verbal vomit to which I’ve been subjected at the hands of Bitter Bettys who, instead of minding their business and focusing on sending good vibes to their own tryhard teams, attempt to rain on our victory parade when we’re winning and joke on us while we’re rebuilding. But the one thing Laker haters always forget, is that we’re a storied franchise with a history of WINNING and it’s never too long before we’re back on top. But not to worry, as I told you all previously, I’m a high-functioning Peppermint Petty and I keep meticulous notes, especially on bum ass Laker haters. And now that we are right back where we belong, I’ve been hitting the haters one by one to formally request the apology that I am owed for their disgusting, slanderous rhetoric. Most immediately copped pleas and humbly apologized for their blasphemy. A few agitators have either flat out refused to repent or have hidden sheepishly behind the skirt of congratulations and words of adoration for the players. And while their words of praise are accurate, without the actual apology, they really fall more into the category of a D-ride. But, listen, I’ll deal with them accordingly, this post is about the Lakers so let me close out by saying: Thank you!
I know that Mamba was our 6th man out there, making the path a little smoother.
THEY PUT ON FOR OUR CITY
Thank you to my Lakers for bringing this celebration to the city. After the traumatic year we’ve had, Lakers Nation truly needed this and I’m beyond grateful for the joy that I’m wallowing in right now. I know that Mamba was our 6th man out there, making the path a little smoother and this was a fitting way to honor him. This is 17. 18, we’re coming for you.
LET THEM HAVE FLOWERS
